I think that most of the G6 have the Realtek card reader. I checked to see if there's a software or a driver updates available for my laptop on your support site, but Windows 10 isn't even an option in the operating system version down.
This is a feature that I love, need, and lack a lot. The SD card in the camera certainly has pictures on this topic, but it says "file is empty". I also tried to plug my camera directly into the computer and go that route, but it won't work that way either. My computer doesn't even recognize that I put an SD in there - no noise, no popups, nothing. I recently updated my laptop to Windows 10 and since then I am unable to download photos to my computer laptop (something I need and do all the time). Install the driver from Realtek for Windows 8 card reader. Read the similar section in the HP forum, but it did not help as much as the device is missing in this case.
